Dr. Rafiq Ullah, originally from Zhob, Balochistan, is currently serving as an Assistant Professor at NUST Balochistan Campus, Quetta. With a strong academic foundation and notable industry experience, he has dedicated his career to advancing structural engineering. Dr. Rafiq holds both a Master’s and PhD in Structural Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), supported by the prestigious HEC Overseas Scholarship for MS leading to PhD. He began his professional journey with a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from BUET Khuzdar, followed by over two years of hands-on experience as a Civil Site Engineer at Fujairah National Construction Company in Dubai, UAE. During this time, he supervised large-scale construction projects, gaining expertise in project management, structural analysis, and site supervision. Dr. Rafiq’s PhD research culminated in the development of a novel metallic damper to improve the seismic resilience of steel-braced frame structures. This groundbreaking work earned him a gold medal for Invention at INATEX 2022 and has been submitted for patent application in Malaysia. His research findings have been published in several peer-reviewed journals. Before joining NUST, he briefly served as an Associate Professor at Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET), Karachi, in 2024. At NUST, Dr. Rafiq is focused on furthering research in seismic resilience, structural dynamics, and sustainable construction. He is committed to nurturing the next generation of civil engineers through innovative teaching and mentorship, contributing to safer and more resilient infrastructure development.
