The Department of Mining and Mineral Resources Engineering has been formally established at NUST Balochistan Campus (NBC) with the appointment of Dr. Izhar Mithal Jiskani as its Head with effect from 1 March 2023.
Prof. Dr. Wasim Khaliq, Campus Director & Dean of NBC, expressed that the establishment of the department is a significant step toward the advancement of mining education. He regards this accomplishment as a hallmark of NBC’s progress toward achieving NUST’s vision.
The Department of Mining and Mineral Resources Engineering will offer Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Mining Engineering, with the commitment to equipping graduates with industry-essential knowledge and skills in safe, intelligent, and green & climate-smart mining. It will also serve as a hub for research and development, providing practical solutions to the challenges facing the mining and minerals industry. The department will play a vital role in defining the future of the mining and minerals industry in Balochistan and beyond.
